ATHLETICS DAY – A great day out at Takapuna Athletics Club for the whole school on 8th November! Some talented athletes achieved some great results in both track and field events. A team has been selected from the results to represent Belmont Intermediate School at the North Harbour Intermediate Schools Athletics Zone Day, at Sovereign Stadium, on Tuesday 22nd November. If students are interested in joining Takapuna Athletics as a fun or competitive athlete they have sessions on Wednesdays after school. BASKETBALL – Good luck to all our teams for the finals! Please ensure all basketball singlets are returned, washed, to the school sports office after the last game.

Congratulations to Nightwing, winners of the Intermediate Schools Battle of the Bands covers competition. Members, Carla Te Paa, Jessica Groenendyk, Jack Cantrell, Tama Warren, Martin Greshoff and Harry Charles competed in the first head at Murrays Bay Intermediate and were selected to compete in the North Shore regional final at Wairau Intermediate, which they won, gaining automatic entry into the Auckland final.
 
The Auckland final was held at Zeal on the evening of Tuesday 6th December. Once again, the band impressed the judges with its renditions of two rock  classics by Black Sabbath. Guitarists Jack Cantrell and Tama Warren were awarded “best guitarist” and Nightwing the winning band!!!
 
Congratulations to the following students who received awards at the Belmont Music Centre on Saturday 3rd December.

Congratulations to Taija Renker-Darby, Rm 11, who has just passed her Trinity Guildhall Grade 4 flute exam with distinction (89%).  Well done Taija!
 
Well done to Alfie Dennis, Rm 9, who recently auditioned for a part in the Royal NZ Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty and won himself a reserve place against some stiff opposition.  That is a wonderful achievement Alfie we are very proud of you.

PTA Disco – Thursday 24th November 7-9pm
Our next disco will be held on 24th November 7-9pm, tickets will be on sale soon at $5 each.  
 
If you were a lucky winner of one of the prizes at our Belmont On Wheels event in September, please don’t forget to pick up your prize.  We still have a few left for pick-up.

Artz On Show presents our King of Pop Workshop!  We run Performing Arts Workshops for children ages 5-15 during the School Holidays at three venues across Auckland. Students participate in a range of classes with our professional tutors including jazz, drama, art, hip hop and vocals. At the end of the week students perform in a showcase for family and friends. North Shore Junior Orchestra - Auditions
We are holding auditions for the 2012 orchestra on Wed 7th December, for children between the ages of 8 and 14, who play a musical instrument. NZFA FOOTBALL HOLIDAY PROGRAMME JANUARY 2012

Devonport squash club will be running a school holiday programme through the mornings of 16th-19th January.
