Board of Trustee News

Welcome to 2010 from the Belmont Intermediate School Board of Trustees.
We will be electing three new Board of Trustees members this year, so please think about whether you’d like to join us. All that’s required is the willingness to put in a little time to help make sure we’re giving our children the best education possible. We’d also welcome interest from parents with children at primary schools who will be attending Belmont Intermediate School soon. If you’re interested phone the chairperson Rosemary Barraclough on 489 7314. Nominations close on 23 April.
The Board of Trustees' major task for 2010 will be preparing the Strategic Plan for the next five years. We’ll be asking the community for their ideas. What do you like about our school? What could be better? Where do we want to be in the next five years. Watch out for invitations to contribute. We value your ideas.

Our next meeting of the year will be held on Monday 29th March at 6.30pm in the Information Centre.

Performing Arts News

‘Little Stars’ is to be our production this year. It is a rock and roll musical which follows the behind the scenes story of five finalists (and their parents) as they compete in the national TV hit sensation singing competition to be the next … Little Star.     Auditions for the main roles will be held before the end of this term, beginning next week. Rehearsals will be next term and the show will be performed on June 29, 30 and July 1. There will be opportunities for students to be involved in singing, acting, dancing, playing in the show band, back stage, sound and lighting, and preparing the stage backdrop and visual effects for the show. It will be a fantastic team effort.

PTA News
Thank you to everyone who ticked one of the PTA boxes on the parent help form. We have had a terrific response, and currently in the process of updating our contact lists. If you haven't heard from us already, we'll be in touch soon!

2010 is off to a good start with a well attended meeting in February. This year your PTA will be chaired by Carolyn Pomeroy, Teresa Smeed as Secretary, and Joan Sim will continue as Treasurer. Adrienne Ling and Ange Stott will co-ordinate the school discos again this year.

The PTA is working with the school to establish goals for this year, and we also hope to establish a team to co-ordinate funding applications and fundraising activities. Your suggestions and contributions are welcome. You can contact Carolyn via email on This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

We look forward to seeing you at the school picnic tonight from 5.30pm onwards.
