bs_jh19.jpgWelcome to Belmont Intermediate International Department

Belmont Intermediate is a well-resourced, decile 10 school, with a roll of approximately 550 students, situated on Auckland's North Shore. International students are taught alongside New Zealand students in supportive classroom environments to encourage the development of English language.

As well as this, the school employs a full time ESOL teacher and a teacher-aide to teach students who have English as their second language. Two separate classrooms are provided for the teaching of ESOL programmes, where students are taught English in small group situations for a set period each day. A Korean Counsellor has been employed to assist Korean students and families with school and home concerns. Extensive support is provided to assist students to adapt to the new cultural environment.

International students are integrated in the school with low international student numbers per class leading to enhanced opportunites to make friends and improve language skills.

Belmont Intermediate School has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International students published by the Ministry of Education. Copies are available from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website at http://www.minedu.govt.nz/goto/international.
