Curriculum Delivery

Policy

Delivery of the curriculum shall foster student achievement.

Therefore the Principal is required to:

1.    Develop and implement teaching and learning programmes which provide for all students:
•    opportunities to maximise success in all the learning and skill areas of the revised New Zealand Curriculum.
•    regular quality physical activity that develops movement skills.

2.     Gather information, through a range of assessment practices, to enable the progress and achievement of students to be effectively evaluated. Furthermore, the Principal is required to ensure breadth and depth of learning related to:

•    the needs, abilities and interests of students, reflecting the particular needs of the community.
•    the nature of the school's curriculum,
•    the scope of the Revised New Zealand curriculum, and
•    the bicultural foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand.

3.    On the basis of good quality assessment information, identify aspects of the curriculum which require particular attention; and identify students and groups of students who:
•    are not achieving
•    are at risk of not achieving
•    have special needs
•    are gifted and talented

4.    Develop and implement teaching and learning strategies to address the needs of students and aspects of the curriculum identified in (3) above

     5.  Develop and make known in consultation with the school's Maori community, plans and targets for improving the achievement of Maori students.

6.  Provide appropriate career education and guidance for all students
