Welcome to Belmont Intermediate School
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Belmont Intermediate School.
The school was opened in 1957 as an Intermediate School to serve the educational needs of Year 7 and Year 8 students in the Takapuna and Devonport area. During this time the school has continually adapted to meet the changing needs of the emerging adolescent. Students are presented with a wide range of academic, cultural and sporting opportunities to promote their individual development. There is an expectation that students will strive for excellence; to be the best they can be in all their school endeavours.
The school requires high standards of behaviour and positive interactions with adults and peers. Students are expected to aspire to the traditional values of showing respect, taking responsibility for and demonstrating commitment to their learning, and acting in a caring way towards others.
The school believes that learning is enhanced when there is a close liaison between the home, school, and students. Parents are encouraged to become active participants in their child’s learning and development. There are a number of opportunities throughout the year for parents and teachers to discuss student progress. I trust that your child's two years at Belmont Intermediate are both challenging and rewarding. Justin Somerville Principal
